  • Hello and Welcome!

Come on in... here you’ll find bits and bobs about us, The Larmours, our life, where we live, what we do, and most of all, about our biggest shared family passion – our travels. This is a record for us, a place for us to share pictures and ramblings on what we’ve done and where we’ve been, but you’ll find occasional blethering about other things too.

We met in Hong Kong, and since then have lived and worked all over Asia before settling in China, where our Saffy arrived and then moving to the UAE where Indy joined us. Since we met we’ve travelled – since we married we’ve been on an adventure – since we had kids it hasn’t stopped… ultimately, all our small travels were preparation for the big one – that one day we hoped to take – a gap year, a sabbatical, a break from the daily grind – and starting 2014 we took off on it..... across the world, and then on a road trip that has taken us to three continents so far.....

Grab a cup of tea and come exploring with us,
Kirsty, Tommy, Saffy and Indy xxxx

Letter from the Marionette Museum, Cesky Krumlov

We were sitting in the Laibon veggie restaurant, chatting away to the owner and a few other people when the heavens opened. Not being people used to rain we of course didn’t have umbrellas or rainbcoats… oh yeah, we’ve lived far too long in a hot country with 3 days of rain a year… so whilst shivvering under cover, contemplating what to do we spotted a sign for the Marionette Museum and ran through the streets to jump in their door and idle our time until the rain passed

I loved this guy – he reminded me of Baldrick from the Blackadder TV series

A camel in case we were missing home!A grasshopper even!

It was spooky, and funny and lovingly looked after by a lady who told the girls stories of the puppets and let them play – they found elves and devils and princesses and even father Christmas – and when we left, the rain had passed… perfect – well worth a visit!

Letter from the Czech Republic 01

This summer our travels took us to Europe. We were heading to Bordeaux for my (Kirsty’s) cousins wedding; but being the travelling souls we are, eager to get the most out of any trip we researched many, many options before we set off. We started some time ago with a plan to go there via Jordan, Egypt and into Libya before heading across the Mediteranean from Tunisia – but that one fell apart – as did the option via Iran and into Turkey and across. As time went on the time available to travel decreased and we plumped for a shorter trip flying into Prague and heading across Germany, to Paris and down to the South of France… it’s going to take me a few blog posts to tell the tales… so here goes…

We flew to Prague, headed by bus and metro across town to hop on a bus to Cesky Krumlov for an initial few days of relaxation. And it was… touristy, but quiet and laidback all at the same time, we spent a few days exploring the winding alleyways, and acclimatising ourselves to Europes cold, cold weather – and RAIN!!!!

These posts are going to be photo heavy that’s for sure but it’s not the first time that I’ve admitted that one of my main aims here is to capture us and the kids on our travels in pictures at least as much words…..

Hanging out at the bus station in Prague – coffee for Mama, rainbow unicorns for Indy, Rainbow magic for Saffy 🙂

Sleeping beauty on the bus

First view of Cesky when we got off the bus and set off to walk into town

The tower of the castle, visible from everywhere in town

Checking out the viewDining at Laibon Vegetarian restaurant – so very good we went back twice!

That’s it for now but I’ll be back with more tales of Cesky soon….
