I’m playing more and more with underwater photos and loving them… this is the girls in the pool in Nizwa, Oman at Eid, November 2011 – very abstract, but I’m loving them – peaceful, calm and glowing…. Kirsty xx Originally posted at www.kirstylarmourblog.com I MUST edit more photos from our amazing Morocco trip in April this year – these are much more commercial images rather than my regular travel images – but for now, this is what I’ve got! So you know how passionate I am about photography? And travel? And how I have a mild obsession with dressing my girls in gorgeous, unique, handcrafted designs? Well imagine if I got to do all of that? Together? Oh yeah, that’s the kind of stuff that gives me palpitations!!! So, there I am, e-chatting away to Jayme, an amazingly talented designer I’ve ordered sweet stuff from before – and I’m asking if she could run me up something for our forthcoming trip to Morocco, and she gets all inspired, and I get all inspired and before we know it we’re planning a shoot, and a clothing collection and I’m not just having palpitations, but I’m jumping up and down on my desk chair (yeah, kinda like Tom Cruise on that sofa…) and shouting “O.M.G!!!!!!” or words to that effect!!! Hubby starts having a crisis about how much luggage this entails and how I’ll be bringing the “Big camera” and y’know we usually travel pretty light – just one bag, yes, between 4 of us. So there was another challenge for me – usually for styled shoots I have a big pile of props ready to choose from, and a car to transport it all in – this time I couldn’t do all that – so I let Morocco speak for itself… it was fabulous seeking out doorways and light spots in dark souks, and fun shops, and stunningly restored riads, and beautiful tiles and nooks and alleyways – it gives a much more urban feel to the photos thank I often go for but I LOVED every minute of it…. so without further woffling… check out the amazing Casbah Collection from Lillipops Designs….. until then, Kirsty x PS if you want to see more of our Moroccan travels “like” the Facebook page for my biz, or for Letters from the Larmours so you’ll know when I post our Moroccan travel stories – and more of our past travel stories can be found here on my biz blog… […] in the interests of starting to document some of it and get the editing underway (other than the girls modelling shots!) I thought I’d push myself to put together a taster of what we […] Eid Mubarak to all our wonderful friends. I hope you all had a blessed and peaceful Ramadan wherever you were and if you were here in Abu Dhabi you have my utmost admiration for fasting when it was 50 degrees C out there. I’ve mentioned before how I love the quietness and calm that spreads across the city during Ramadan – that I love that we get to spend more time together as a family and my hubby is home earlier. It’s a quiet time for my business too with it being summer and so hot outdoors and that allows me to work on some other things. Every year I challenge myself to a Ramadan photo project (although I never actually got around to posting it last year – oops). This year was simple – after the fun of capturing my family on my iphone for myProject 10 last month – I decided to capture snaps of Ramadan on my iphone too. Sometimes it’s fun to just take photography back to its bare bones – where the things that make a great photo are not your about your settings or your camera, but about choice of subject, use of lighting and composition. So, here are some of the things I found interesting this Ramadan, via my iphone… I have a real love of patterns and food, so pictures of dates and sweets are the kind of things that make me smile. We also went to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque for iftar as we do every year and every year the building amazes me more. We spent time at the beach where we could hear the prayer call echoing out across the city right as the sun went down. I hope you all have a wonderful few days with your families. Eid Mubarak to one and all, Kirsty, Tommy, Saffy and Indy x ![]() |
