  • Hello and Welcome!

Come on in... here you’ll find bits and bobs about us, The Larmours, our life, where we live, what we do, and most of all, about our biggest shared family passion – our travels. This is a record for us, a place for us to share pictures and ramblings on what we’ve done and where we’ve been, but you’ll find occasional blethering about other things too.

We met in Hong Kong, and since then have lived and worked all over Asia before settling in China, where our Saffy arrived and then moving to the UAE where Indy joined us. Since we met we’ve travelled – since we married we’ve been on an adventure – since we had kids it hasn’t stopped… ultimately, all our small travels were preparation for the big one – that one day we hoped to take – a gap year, a sabbatical, a break from the daily grind – and starting 2014 we took off on it..... across the world, and then on a road trip that has taken us to three continents so far.....

Grab a cup of tea and come exploring with us,
Kirsty, Tommy, Saffy and Indy xxxx

Postcards from the beach

As a photographer one of my major aims when taking pictures of my kids, especially on our travels is to capture the realness of the moment.. to capture emotion, to evoke emotion, to make people feel something of what we felt to be there, to capture some of the spirit…. because of the kind of places we tend to go I rarely take or process my images as black and white – I like people to see the vibrancy of what we see…. but I need to push myself in this area and see the world in black and white more.

This first image I took of Saffy almost 3 years ago – I’ve always loved it – it has that emotional connection to the beach – the salty, sandy, windswept curls, the bedragled, sea drenched plaits…

The second image, as soon as I took, I knew it was the perfect compliment – it completed my set – it was more simple, just Indy looking out to sea, but again, there was an emotional connection to the place that was there without even seeing her face…Funny, how all that time on, the picture was there in my head all along…. and it turns out it was black and white… not showing the turquoise waters of the Andamans, or the golden sands of Abu Dhabi and it turns out black and white were just perfect for them too….

PS these two are being printed out and hung on our walls – because of our semi-nomadic lifestyle I don’t actually put many pictures up – prefering to get them as albums which we’ll keep forever, but these two, now they’re a set, feel special….

Letter from the Andamans

Happy 2012!!

A few first tasters of our recent trip to the Andaman islands… what bliss…..

More photos and a day in our life there over on my other blog – follow this link

And more from all of our 2011 travels coming soon too…. and now to planning our travels for 2012!!!!

Beautiful Kirsty! Girls eating the kulfi! Brilliant!

Beautiful…you’re such adventurers. I feel the urge to go out and see something new and cool. AND I want to be there and see that blue sea for myself…:)

[…] The Andaman Islands, India – I could show you picture after picture of the amazing deserted white sand beaches we had all to ourselves in the Andamans, but to me this picture speaks of the perfect solitude we had there. Indy, aged 3 had been collecting her “treasures” all day and hiding them in the trees at the side of the beach – here she is showing off her favourite white shell […]

Letter from Christmas 2011…

A very quick letter from us – after a lovely Christmas day – relaxing, just us and our families on skype we’re off to India on holiday… we can’t wait to get away – 2011 has been a little manic and we hope 2012 will be somewhat calmer!!!

Here’s another really terrible self timer pic!!! Of our Christmas Day picnic on our living room floor!!

Thank you to all our wonderful friends who’ve told us how much they love keeping up with what we’re doing and hearing about our travels and seeing the pictures – I hope I’ll get a little more on top of it and backpost some more from past travels in the new year – I have so much to tell from our summer 2011 trips and gorgeous images to share too but it means so much that you love to see/read it all 🙂

Here’s a couple of montages of my iphone snaps from the run up to Christmas and the big day – check out some of the antics of Ivor our elf!!!

We’ll try and post some pics from the beach!

Happy 2012, K, T, S and I xxxx
