Another fabulous thing about Abu Dhabi is that with it being the capital city we get a lot of great stuff to go and see here – beit concerts, events, festivals or exhibitions. Recently down on the Corniche was the Wild Arabia exhibition – an amazing series of National Geographic images showcasing this fantastic region and it’s animal and landscape diversity. So we combined and afternoon of roller skating down the Corniche with half an hour browsing the awesome photos – the kids loved them… although Indy was rather upset there wasn’t a gecko picture as she’s in the geckos class at school – Saffy was thrilled to find a fox for her class!!

So, apart from the fact that I should be updating the blog more with more of our *Ah-Maze-Ing* (I say this VERY tongue in cheek!!!) holiday snaps and recording all that we did and how we did it and all that – I also think I should include more of the every day stuff – so no pressure on myself, at all!!! Just the little stuff that makes us, us…. and to remember that stuff… and to remember those more every day moments of our life in Abu Dhabi, cos we won’t be here forever…… I mean things like that at the weekend we trundled off to our local “nice” Indian restaurant – we have local bog standard places right beside our building, and we have our local super fancy Indian restaurant (called Indigo, no less!!) a street away in one of the 5* hotels (cos they’re the only places Mummy can have wine with her meal!!) but our fave just regular nice Indian place is just right across our block – I am not kidding, we are SO lucky living slap bang in the middle of the crazy busiest area of town in so many ways! (although I am also very aware of it’s limitations!!!) soooooo, off we popped – I only snapped these pics on my phone cos it just made me laugh how the kids just get down to it – Indian food means eat with hands! And off they went – koftas, kebab from the tandoori, daal, roti’s, and a scrummy paneer tikka masala all mixed up with rice up to their arms!!!

and what I love is that this is something that they probably wouldn’t do if we hadn’t been to India so often, and they didn’t feel so comfortable eating curry – and I’m a very happy Mummy that they love curry!!!
Life gets so busy and I had such high hopes for an amazing record of all our travels – has it happened? Nope, jobs, school, errands, life in general all get in the way and one of the major problems of working with photography for a living is that you don’t always want to do it in your down time! Sometimes I want a break from the PC! Maybe I need to get Tommy and the girls to write up more of our travels and then I only need to edit pictures…
We’re sorting out our plans for summer 2012 – and I can’t wait for the trip we have planned which will be so different from so many of our recent trips – but I feel so bad that I still haven’t blogged pictures and stories from Morocco, Easter 2011, Shanghai, Bangkok and Cambodia, summer 2011, Oman, India and our recent girls trip to Turkey (although you can see some from India and Turkey on my work blog!). So, here, to get me started are some pics from last years various travels and in the quiet of the summer and Ramadan my target is to get to work on everything else and bring us right back up to date – it’s a tall order to document so many travels… but I’m going for it!!!! Feel free to email me and hassle me and hold me accountable! Magnets in Marakech
The Bund sightseeing tunnel – Shanghai Mao Statues at Dong Tai Lu antiques market – Shanghai

Roadside petrol station – Cambodia
Mural on our hotel wall – Bangkok

The Hajar Mountains – Oman
Roadside samosa vendor – Andaman Islands, India
Evil eye magnets – Istanbul
And then I’ll get round to bringing the remaining posts from our old website back over here too!!
